The All Species Science Board was established in February under Terry Erwin's direction as Chairman:

Advisory Board Grows
The All Species Advisory Board grew nearly 50% during the first quarter of the year.
Advisors play a significant role in the growth of the All Species Foundation through their
expertise and insight on the Foundation's scientific strategies. They also act as a sounding board as issues arise.

Staff Update
Ryan Phelan took the helm as CEO for All Species as of January 1st.
Dave "Thau" also joined on January 1st as Director of Technology. Since then he's installed a rapid software development environment, and completed the first phase of the Species Toolkit, a search engine which has indexed more than one million species names, (includes synonyms) making it the largest collection of species names.
Hugo Llamas our Content Manager has been working with Thau on a graphical user interface for the Toolkit Project. In addition, he has been working to enhance the ALL Web site.
New Hires
Business Consultant - Danica Remy
Danica Remy has joined to assist in business planning and development work. She brings with her strength in visualizing and implementing unique partnerships as well as planning skills. Most recently she was VP Operations for Organic. Aside from her operational role she developed and implemented innovative philanthropic programs for employees of Organic with the San Francisco Foundation. She has been the President of Whole Earth/Point Foundation where she worked with Peter Warshall providing operational support including fundraising during the last seven years. Before Organic, she was VP for Knowledge Universe, where she led technology and operating strategies for Milken Family Foundation initiatives including development of Internet business initiatives, partnerships, investments, and joint ventures which Milken wanted applied to the not- for-profits. Prior to KU she was VP of Engineering , VP Production, VP Marketing for various internet companies and she helped co-found GBN with Stewart Brand. Additional board service includes: nCircle Enterprise Network Security Management, Institute for Intercultural Studies, Margaret Mead's Family Foundation, San Francisco Foundation's Organic Fund, CleanEdge, provider of market-intelligence for clean-tech and Computer Curriculum, College of Marin.
Director of Special Projects - Julia Berger
Julia came aboard full-time on April 1st and will wear multiple hats at ALL; from Project Manager to Media Relations to Business Development. She will coordinate events (conferences), follow up on strategic partnerships (Bishop Museum, Conservation International, and National Park Service, etc.), and handle the media. She joins us from coastal North Carolina where she was working as an environmental consultant for a private firm that specializes in biological environmental monitoring, wetlands delineation and restoration, and natural resource management.
