Fundraising

During Q3, ALL submitted 25 proposals or funding inquiries. Of those 25, ALL received funding approval from four different organizations: The Packard Foundation ($50,000), The California Academy of Sciences, BIOSIS, and the National Science Foundation ($60,000). Of the remaining 21 proposals we received declines from 7 organizations, including the National Science Foundation for the Joint Genomic Proposal, GBIF, and five private foundations.

ALL has made progress this quarter developing initial relationships with several new foundations and individual donors. We have submitted two proposals, currently under review, for the Encyclopedia of Life for $275,000.

Business Plan

Significant time has been spent on developing the Start-up Phase- Business Plan for ALL Species. This document was a collaborative effort and required time and focus of staff and board alike. This document serves as the foundation for development efforts as it is the master plan. Funding proposals are now aligned with the plan and the document serves as tool for funders to understand how our various initiatives fit into the larger picture.
